Resilient Bonsai Tag
Do you struggle with motivational masculine makes? If ever I get in a pickle about what to create I place a number of words into a jar and pick them out to guide my inspiration. For my DT make this week the words I picked out were ‘growth’, ‘copper’, ‘tag’, ‘die cut’ and ‘emboss’. This has resulted in a grungy motivational tag using the ‘Resilient Bonsai’ stamp set as well as the ‘Broken Mesh’ die. All available from Visible Image.
Background
I love the really textured and grungy feel to this tag and hope you do too.
Top Tip: If mounting your tag onto another piece of card make the punch hole in the card before attaching the tag.

Background
- Stamp the Japanese text from the ‘Resilient Bonsai’ stamp set onto a large black tag using Versamark and heat emboss with Wow regular metallic copper embossing powder. Go around the edge of the tag using the same ink and embossing powder.
- Add further stamping using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink and heat emboss with Wow superfine clear embossing powder.
- Splatter with ‘Frayed Burlap’ distress spritz spray and white ink.
- Die cut the ‘Broken Mesh’ die and colour with ‘Walnut Stain’ distress ink.
- Cover the die cut with Versamark and heat emboss with Wow regular metallic copper embossing powder.
Focal Images & Sentiment
- Stamp the circle stamp onto white card using Versafine Clair ‘Warm Breeze’ blue ink and heat emboss with Wow superfine clear embossing powder.
- Stamp the bonsai tree from the ‘Resilient Bonsai’ stamp set onto white card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne ink and heat emboss with Wow superfine clear embossing powder. Add a motif.
- Fussy cut out the images and colour with ‘Peacock Feathers’, ‘Walnut Stain’, ‘Rustic Wilderness’ and ‘Mowed Lawn’ distress inks.
- Stamp out the sentiment onto white card using Versafine Clair ‘Warm Breeze’ blue ink and heat emboss in the same way as before. Edge with ‘Peacock Feathers’ distress ink. Layer onto white card edged with ‘Walnut Stain’ distress ink.
- Mount the tag onto some white hammered card. Add the die cut, circle, bonsai tree and sentiment using 3D foam mounts.
- Add a woollen ribbon, little wink of stella glitter pen and a few copper gems for interest.
Top Tip: If mounting your tag onto another piece of card make the punch hole in the card before attaching the tag.
