Live Life Now Birthday Card

 

There’s beauty blooming everywhere now – from the blossom on the trees to the buds appearing on the Spring flowers in my garden. This inspired my Visible Image DT birthday card make this week using the ‘Daisy Daisy’ stencil as well as the ‘Live Life Now’ and ‘Birthday Wishes’ stamp sets.

Background & Focal Image

• Spray ‘Picked Raspberry’, ‘Spiced Marmalade’, ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Shaded Lilac’ distress spray stains onto a piece of white card. Spray with water to disperse the ink and dry with a heat gun.

• Place the ‘Daisy Daisy’ stencil over the top and blend ‘Picked Raspberry’, ‘Spiced Marmalade’, ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Shaded Lilac’ distress ink through it. Remove the stencil.

• Stamp the main butterfly from the ‘Live Life Now’ stamp set onto the background using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink. Heat emboss with Wow superfine clear embossing powder.

• Stamp the other butterflies from the same set onto the background using ‘Picked Raspberry’ and ‘Spiced Marmalade’ distress ink.

• Colour in the Daisy using a white coloured pencil.

• Splatter the background with white ink and distress spritz sprays in ‘Picked Raspberry’ and ‘Tumbled Glass’.

• Blend around the edges of the card with the same colours as the background in distress inks.

Sentiment

• Stamp the sentiments from the ‘Birthday Wishes’ same stamp set onto black card using Versamark and heat emboss with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. Fussy cut out.

Completion

• Mount the background onto some black card and a white card blank. Add the sentiments using 3D foam mounts plus a few small water droplets for added dimension.

I really enjoyed making this card and I can’t wait to give it to a friend celebrating a birthday very soon.

Top Tip: If the stamping doesn’t come out very well even after double-stamping using a stamp press – use a small paintbrush and fill in any gaps by brushing it over the ink and then applying to your stamped image.
