Daisy Days & Puzzle
I looked out the kitchen window a few moments ago and was delighted to see my fruit trees are starting to blossom. We’re currently experiencing a brief spell of good weather here in the UK which, I hope, signals the start of Spring! I’m also at my best during the brighter days – and what better to spend my free time than with the brand new ‘Grunge Florals’ collection from Visible Image. For my fifth sample I’ve teamed up the amazing new ‘Daisy Days’ stamp set with the fabulous ‘Puzzle’ stencil.
Up first, I took a white piece of card and sprayed it with ‘Squeezed Lemonade’, ‘Worn Lipstick’ and ‘Dried Marigold’ distress spray stains. The small elements from the ‘Daisy Dreams’ stamp set were then stamped over the background using ‘Worn Lipstick’ or ‘Mustard Seed’ distress ink.
The ‘Puzzle' stencil was placed over the top of the background and distress sparkle paste smoothed through it before putting to one side. A few white ink splatters were added over the top for some further interest.
For the daisy I took another piece of white card and stamped the image from the ‘Daisy Days’ stamp set onto it using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before heat embossing with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. This was fussy cut out and a yellow button and gold gem placed in the centre. The same daisy motif was then stamped onto some vellum using black archival ink and fussy cut out.
For the sentiment - this was stamped onto some white card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before being heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder and fussy cut out.
Finally, the background was mounted onto some white hammered card and a white card blank. The daisies and sentiment were then layered onto the card using 3D mounts and acrylic glue.
I don’t usually add buttons to cards – but this one was perfect for this card.
Top Tip: Leave distress ink backgrounds for a few hours before using them as it helps the colour really start to pop.
