Butterfly Mother's Day Card

 

What a beautiful day to celebrate all mums and female figures that have been there for us. Here’s also to all those who find today difficult for whatever reason.

I made a little card for someone very special this year using some Tim Holtz goodies I’d yet to ink up or die cut.

I started by taking a white piece of card and sprayed it with ‘Kitsch Flamingo’, ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Shaded Lilac’ distress spray stain. This was topped up with ‘Picked Raspberry’, ‘Wilted Violet’ and ‘Salty Ocean’ distress ink (using a stamping block to ink the card). A few splatters of water followed before stamping over the top with elements from Stampers Anonymous ‘Nature’s Discovery’ & ‘French Marketplace’ stamp sets using the same colours in distress inks.

The roses stencil (THS075) was up next – some distress opaque grit paste was blended through it to add a bit of texture to the card background. The background was then edged with ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Picked Raspberry’ distress ink.

For the focal image, the ‘Perspective Butterfly’ from Sizzix was die cut out from white card.

Finally, the background was mounted onto some black and white hammered card. The die cut butterfly, some watercolour gems, white ink, ‘Picked Raspberry’ distress spritz spray and an idea-ology greeting finished off the card.

I loved this make and the butterfly is such a gorgeous addition to my collection. I’ll be using that again for sure.
