Sunflower Dreams

Wahoo! It’s new release day for Visible Image. The ‘Grunge Florals’ collection is a perfect combination of Mark’s original grungy style with some gorgeous blooms. I love this new ‘Sunflower Dreams’ stamp set and I can see it becoming a firm favourite. For my first sample I’ve teamed up this new stamp set with the incredible new ‘Galactic’ stamp set and ‘Logic’ stencil.

Up first, I took a white piece of card and covered it with ‘Blueprint Sketch’ distress ink before splattering with a few water droplets. I started to build the background by stamping the large image from the ‘Galactic’ stamp set randomly onto the background using Versamark and heat embossing with Wow superfine metallic silver embossing powder. The other elements from the same stamp set were then stamped onto the background using either Versafine Clair ‘Blue Belle’ and ‘Medieval Blue’ inks or Brilliance white archival ink.

Once these had dried, the ‘Logic’ stencil was placed over the top of the background and distress opaque grit paste smoothed through it before putting to one side. A little brush of ‘Black Soot’ distress ink was then used to edge the background.

For the grungy floral image I grabbed another piece of white card and stamped the sunflower and smaller grunge image from the ‘Sunflower Dreams’ stamp set onto it using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before heat embossing with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. This was fussy cut out and coloured in using watercolour pencils and a water brush. Some wink of stella gives a little touch of glimmer to the petals.

For the sentiment - this was stamped onto some white card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before being heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder and fussy cutting out.

Finally, the background was mounted onto some bright yellow card and a white card blank. The sunflower and sentiments were layered onto the card using 3D mounts and acrylic glue before some sparkly gems were added for interest.

I love the layered look to this card and will definitely be using this new set again. It’s a perfect greetings card to cheer anyone up this coming season.

Top Tip: Use different coloured inks for your background stamping to add depth and dimension.
