Take Flight - Happy New Year!

 

It’s 2026 and this year my New Year’s Resolution is to create but be inspired by others. That means watching those online tutorials I’ve bookmarked or catching up with friends for crafty times. If you’ve not watched one of Mark’s Visible Image lives then perhaps this is the year to be inspired too!

Today I’m sharing another of my samples from the December release - ‘Time to Fly’ - from Visible Image. For this simple make I’ve used the amazing ‘Take Flight’ stamp set.

First of all, I took a white piece of card and sprayed it with ‘Saltwater Taffy’ and ‘Salvaged Patina’ distress spray stain. Some fine water mist was used to disperse the inks. When the ink had dried naturally I stamped the birds from the ‘Take Flight’ stamp set onto the background in the same colours of distress ink. I then repeated the birds onto the card using Versafine Clair ‘Arctic Blue’ ink.

Up next, the feathers from the same stamp set were stamped onto the background using Versamark before heat embossing with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. The sentiment was then stamped onto the card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink and heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. A splattering of distress spritz sprays in ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Saltwater Taffy’ followed alongside some Posca white paint.

Finally, the background was mounted onto some black card and a white card blank & some sparkly gems added for interest.

Top Tip: Use an anti-static pad before doing the stamping and embossing. Alternatively, dust off any excess embossing powder with a small paint brush.
