Capture Every Moment

 

I can’t believe we’re half way through January already. It’s been a very busy couple of weeks but I’m determined this year to make the most of my crafty time and go back to styles I enjoy doing. For my DT make for Visible Image this week I’ve gone all mixed media! This creation is full of texture, grunge & embossing! The camera from the ‘Capture Every Moment’ stamp set is so iconic too and fits perfectly with a positive affirmation theme.

First of all I took a white piece of card and sprayed it with ‘Old Paper’ and ‘Iced Spruce’ distress spray stain alongside some ‘Shabby Shutters’ and ‘Old Paper’ distress oxide sprays. 

After heat drying I stamped all the stamps from the ‘Round in Circles’ stamp set onto the background using Versafine Clair ‘Shady Lane’ and ‘Avocado’ green inks. A few water splatters followed before heat drying once more. I then covered the background with distress micro glaze.

Up next, I placed the ‘Orbs’ stencil over the top of the background and smoothed distress opaque grit paste through it. Before it dried I sprinkled some Wow superfine bright white embossing powder over the top before heat embossing it. This leaves such a grungy bubbly effect – love it.

The full background was then splattered with ‘Crushed Olive’ distress spray stain and a few drops of Posca white paint pen.

For the focal image and sentiment from the ‘Capture Every Moment’ stamp set – these were stamped onto white card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink and heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. A duplicate of the aperture to the camera was also stamped out before fussy cutting out and being edged with ‘Bundled Sage’ distress ink. The sentiment was then mounted onto black card.

Finally, the background was mounted onto some black card and a white card blank. The camera (plus raised aperture) and sentiment were layered onto the card using 3D mounts and acrylic glue before a little wink of stella pen & some water droplet gems were added for a final flourish.

As we’re still in the depths of winter I love how this card is perfect for the season and hope you do too.

Top Tip: Use 1st and 2nd generation stamping to your card backgrounds for added depth.
