Let it Snow

 

Did you know that every snowflake is unique? Their icy coldness fill me with delight every time the flurries appear. Especially if there’s enough for building snowmen and throwing snowballs! The theme for this week’s Visible Image DT make is ‘Winter’ so I dug out the ‘Let it Snow’ set. I love the grungy-ness of these stamps – perfect for a greeting card to send to a friend this season.

First of all I took a white piece of card and sprayed it with ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Lost Shadow’ distress spray stain. 

After this dried I stamped the main snowflake onto the background using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. 

The ‘Let it Snow’ sentiment was stamped onto the background using Versafine Clair ‘Warm Breeze’ blue ink - 2nd generation (rather ironic title of ink for this make!). 

All the other snowflakes were then stamped over the background using Versamark and heat embossed with either Wow superfine bright white embossing powder or Wow sparkling snow embossing powder (this is so sparkly).

The snowy dots from the same stamp set were stamped around the edge of the card also using the Versafine Clair ‘Warm Breeze’ blue ink (both 1st and 2nd generation). The whole background were splattered with 'Hickory Smoke' distress spritz spray as well as some Posca white paint.

For the sentiment this was stamped onto some white card using Versafine Clair ‘Morning Mist’ grey ink before being heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. This was edged with ‘Tumbled Glass’ distress ink and mounted onto grey card before some wink of stella glitter pen gave it a little sparkle..

Finally, the background was mounted onto some grey card and a white card blank. The sentiment was layered onto the card using 3D mounts and acrylic glue before some sparkly gems were added to the snowflake and the card background.

I love the wintry feel to this card and I can’t wait to send it to a friend to cheer them up.

Top Tip: Use different embossing powder textures and colours to make the snowflakes pop from the background.
