Christmas Robin
Things are definitely getting more festive around here! I’ve started the Christmas shopping and have now set my sights on making a few Christmas cards. I usually leave things right until the last minute but I am trying to be more organised this year! We’ll see how that works out!
This week the theme for our DT makes is ‘Christmas Traditions’. I like to batch make my cards so I hope you may also want to give this little ‘Christmas Robin’ fairly clean and simple make a go. I’ll certainly be using this as a design for a few cards this year. All products are available from Visible Image.
First of all I took a white piece of card and die cut out a circle (9.5cm in diameter) from it. The main text from the ‘Distressed Christmas’ stamp set was half stamped onto the circle die cut using Versafine Clair ‘Sand Dune’ gold coloured ink. The sentiment from the ‘Christmas Robin’ stamp set was stamped over the top of the print using Versafine Clair ‘Pinecone’. The ink was then heat embossed with Wow superfine clear embossing powder before the circle was edged with ‘Vintage Photo’ distress ink to make it pop.
For the ‘Christmas Robin’ elements I stamped both the large robin and the large holly onto some white card using Versafine Clair ‘Pinecone’ dark brown ink. These were heat embossed with Wow superfine clear embossing powder before being die cut out using the ‘Christmas Robin’ die set.
Once die cut, these elements were coloured in using watercolour pencils and a water brush. A little ‘Vintage Photo’ distress ink was used to age the robin and holly to make them stand out from the white card background.
Finally, all the elements were mounted using 3D mounts and acrylic glue onto some white card (also edged with ‘Vintage Photo’ distress ink), black card and a kraft card blank. A few water droplets were added to the holly leaves for interest.
I really enjoyed this simple make and can’t wait to add some more to my Christmas card collection for my friends this year.
Top Tip: Why not do this in different colour ways to match your Christmas theme this year.
