Night Owl Calendar Page

 

I’m always looking for new present ideas and as thoughts turn to Christmas I’ve started to make some crafty calendars. Our DT theme this week is ‘Moonlight Magic’ which inspired my entry for January 2026 on this make your own calendar*. For this creation I’ve used the ‘Night Owl’ & ‘Sketched Snowflakes’ stamp sets as well as the ‘Art Spheres #1’ stencil (which can be used for a fab moon template). All available from Visible Image.

Stepped Instructions:

1) Background/Stencil: Take an 11cm x 8cm piece of white cardstock and the smiley face mask from the ‘Art Spheres #1’ stencil. Mask off the details with some low-tac tape and blend ‘Speckled Egg’ and ‘Faded Jeans’ distress inks working from the stencil outwards towards the edge of the card. Remove the stencil and low-tac tape & you are left with a bright white moon.

2) Night Owl: Stamp the branch in random places using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink (2nd generation) onto the background. On a separate piece of white card stamp out the owl using the same black ink and heat emboss with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. Fussy cut out and colour with ‘Tea Dye’ and ‘Vintage Photo’ distress inks. Edge the owl with ‘Faded Jeans’ distress ink.

3) Sketched Snowflakes: Stamp the smaller snowflakes onto the background using Versamark and heat emboss with Wow snowflakes embossing powder. So glittery!

4) Sentiment: Stamp the sentiment from the ‘Night Owl’ stamp set onto the calendar page using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink (2nd generation)

5) Completion: Add some white gel pen to the branches on the background before splattering with some white posca paint. Mount the background onto some black card trimmed close to the edge of the background before adding to the calendar page with acrylic glue. Using 3D mounts attach the owl to the page. Add some small sparkly clear gems to finish.
