Midnight Sky

As the nights draw in it’s time to dig out the woolly jumpers and fluffy slippers. If, like me, you also like some cosy comforts at this time of year then you’ll like our DT theme this week. I’ve made myself a lovely creamy hot chocolate with marshmallows whilst I create today – that inspired my dreamy make this week. For my card creation I’ve used the delightful ‘Midnight Sky’ and brand new ‘Present Times’ stamp sets alongside the ‘Stardust' stencil. All products are available from Visible Image.

Up first, I took a white piece of card and sprayed it with ‘Speckled Egg’, ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Iced Spruce’ distress spray stains and the same colours in distress oxide sprays. I then splashed it with water and a touch of ‘Stormy Sky’ distress spray before leaving to dry. A little ‘Stormy Sky’ distress ink was then brushed around the edges to give a bit of a dramatic effect. Some Distress micro-glaze was rubbed over the top to really bring out the colours.

Next, I placed the ‘Stardust’ stencil over the top and smoothed Distress opaque grit paste through it. Once dried, I splattered some posca white paint and ‘Hickory Smoke’ distress spritz spray over the top.

Whilst this was put to one side, I took some of the elements from the ‘Midnight Sky’ stamp set and stamped these onto a separate piece of white card using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow superfine metallic silver embossing powder. These were fussy cut out before being coloured in with colouring pencils and a wink of stella glitter pen. The 'Zzs' from the same stamp set were stamped onto the background using white Brilliance archival ink. The words from the ‘Present Times’ stamp set were then stamped onto white card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before being heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder and fussy cut out before some parts were mounted onto black card.

Finally, the stencilled background was added to some black card and a white card blank. The sky elements and the sentiments were added to the card using acrylic glue and 3D mounts. Some sparkly gems were also glued to the stardust stencil for added interest.

I really love this dreamy make and will keep on my desk for a little wintry inspiration over the coming months
