A Friend Like you Tag

 

Autumn hues are now emerging with crispy leaves and seed heads on the garden plants. As ‘Autumn Botanicals’ is the theme for our DT makes this week I’ve taken inspiration from the changing colours that Autumn brings - with darker blue skies and the flower heads that are turning translucent. For my gift tag I’ve used the ‘A Friend Like You’ stamp set alongside the ‘Leafy Stencil’ in the background. All available from Visible Image.

Stepped Instructions:

1) Background: Take a size 8 white tag and dip this into ‘Mowed Lawn’ and ‘Uncharted Mariner’ distress inks that have been spritzed with water. Dry with a heat gun. Edge the tag with ‘Uncharted Mariner’ distress ink.

2) Leafy Stencil: Place the ‘Leafy’ stencil over the tag and secure into position. Smooth distress translucent crackle paste through it. Remove the stencil and leave to dry.

3) A Friend Like You: Stamp the flower heads onto a piece of white card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink and heat emboss with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. Fussy cut out and paint with Visible Image colour changing watercolours. I chose purple/blue/gold based colours.

4) Sentiments: Stamp the sentiment from the ‘A Friend Like You’ stamp set onto black card using Versamark and heat emboss with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. Fussy cut out.

5) Completion: Spritz the background with ‘Uncharted Mariner’ distress spritz spray and some Posca white paint splatters. Layer and mount the flowers and sentiments onto the tag using acrylic glue and 3D mounts. Glue some water droplet gems to the flowers and background for added interest. Finish the tag with some ribbon/twine.

I hope you like my little crafty autumnal tag. I’ll be using it to add a little flourish to a birthday gift for a dear friend next month.
