Brighter Days Birthday Tag

 

The school holidays are here and it’s time to get inky! This week for our DT makes we’re being inspired by ‘Friendship’. For my make I’ve chosen to use the ‘Brighter Days’ and ‘Sister Definition’ stamp set alongside the ‘Colourblind’ stencil to make a lovely little birthday tag for my sister.

Stepped Instructions:

1) Background: Blend ‘Saltwater Taffy’, ‘Kitsch Flamingo’, ‘Tumbled Glass’, ‘Shaded Lilac’ and ‘Squeezed Lemonade’ distress oxide over a Size 8 white tag. Sprinkle over a few water droplets.

2) Brighter Days: Stamp the circles and smallest dragonfly onto the background using Versamark and heat emboss with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. On a separate piece of card stamp a range of the other dragonflies with Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink and heat emboss with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. Fussy cut out and cover with Ranger glossy accents.

3) Colourblind Stencil: Place the stencil over the tag and blend the same colours of the oxides in Distress ink through it. Move the stencil to the bottom right hand corner and smooth Distress translucent crackle paste through it and leave to dry.

4) Sentiments: Stamp the sentiments from the ‘Brighter Days’ and ‘Sister Definition’ onto black card using Versamark and heat emboss with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. Fussy cut out (please note I only used the ‘sister’ part of the ‘Sister Definition’ sentiment).

5) Completion: Layer and mount the tag onto some black and white hammered card. Splatter with some Posca white paint. Add the dragonflies and sentiments with 3D mounts and acrylic glue. Place a ribbon on the tag and add a few sparkly gems for a little glamour.

I really enjoyed making this tag. Now just to buy and wrap a present for my sister – I think that will be much harder than making this tag!!
