Fly High and Wildflowers Card
We’re more than half way through the year so it’s time for me to assess how my New Year resolutions are going! At the start of the year I said I wanted to step out of my comfort zone. As usual things have got in the way of that so my DT make this week is a reminder to ‘…follow your dreams’. The new ‘Fly High’ stamp set and ‘Wildflowers’ stencil are perfect to capture the need to press on to ‘believe in all you will become’. Both products are available from Visible Image.
To begin, I took a white piece of card and sprayed it with ‘Kitsch Flamingo’, ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Shaded Lilac’ distress spray stains. Some water droplets were sprinkled over the top – I love the mottled effect this gives.
Next up, the words from the ‘Fly High’ stamp set were stamped onto the background using ‘Wilted Violet’ and ‘Picked Raspberry’ distress ink. After drying with a heat gun I placed the ‘Wildflowers’ stencil over the top and kept it in place using low-tac tape and some magnets. Some distress opaque grit paste was smoothed through it before lifting the stencil away from the card.
Up next, the small butterflies from the ‘Fly High’ stamp set were stamped onto the card using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. At this point I felt the card needed more interest so I sprayed it with some ‘Picked Raspberry’ distress spritz spray. As you can see it went everywhere!! This was topped up with some Posca white paint pen splatters.
For the butterflies I stamped the large one onto the card background and some more onto another piece of white card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before heat embossing with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. These were fussy cut out and sprayed with ‘Shaded Lilac’, ‘Saltwater Taffy’, ‘Kitsch Flamingo’, ‘Tumbled Glass’, ‘Squeezed Lemonade’ and ‘Twisted Citron’ distress spray stain. When dry I chose 3 to go onto the card.
Finally, the background was added to some black card and a white card blank. The butterflies and sentiment were added to the card using acrylic glue and 3D mounts. Some Ranger glossy accents were added to the butterflies as well as some water droplets were glued to the background for added interest.
The sentiment from the ‘Fly High’ stamp set was stamped onto some black card using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. This was fussy cut out and layered onto some white card that had been edged with ‘Wilted Violet’ distress ink.
I really love this new ‘Love of Nature’ collection and adore these funky butterflies with the wonderful sentiments. A perfect reminder for the remainder of 2025 to ‘…follow your dreams’.
