Butterfly Effect Tag

 

Are you the type of person who hoards gift bags and then has to go searching for a matching tag? Yes, I am one of these people! So it’s great to be able to dig into my Visible Image crafty stash to make a little tag to add a little personal touch to a gift.

For my DT make this week I’ve made a little birthday tag using the ‘Butterfly Effect’ and ‘Birthday Wishes’ stamp sets - both available from Visible Image.

To begin, I took a white Dina Wakley size 8 tag and blended ‘Picked Raspberry’, ‘Dried Marigold’, ‘Twisted Citron’ and ‘Tumbled Glass’ distress ink over the top. Some water splatters were added over the ink before being dried off with a heat gun – although you could leave it to dry naturally.

Next up, the elements from the ‘Butterfly Effect’ stamp set were stamped onto the tag. First up the grunge effect stamp was added using ‘Picked Raspberry’, ‘Salty Ocean’, ‘Carved Pumpkin’ and ‘Twisted Citron’ distress ink. The main butterfly was then stamped on top using Versamark before heat embossing with Wow metallic gold rich embossing powder. The circles were then stamped using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder.

Some ‘Fossilized Amber’ distress spray and Posca white paint splatters were dripped onto the tag to add further interest and a bit of glitz!

Up next, the butterflies from the same set were stamped onto another piece of white card using Versamark and heat embossed with the same Wow metallic gold rich embossing powder. These were fussy cut out and put to one side ready to layer up once the background was complete.

The sentiment from the ‘Birthday Wishes’ stamp set was stamped onto some black card using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder. These were then fussy cut out.

Finally, the tag was added to some black and white hammered card. The butterflies and sentiments were added to the tag using acrylic glue and 3D mounts. Some wink of stella glitter pen & water droplets were added alongside a rainbow ribbon to finish off the birthday tag.

Such a perfect way to add that final flourish to one of those hoarded gift bags I hope you agree?
