Typewriter Card

I don’t own many embossing folders but with the recent A5 Tim Holtz/Sizzix release I dug out the original A6 ‘Typewriter’ and had a little play to make a 70th birthday card. This one is all about the background!

The trouble with making 7x7inch cards is that I needed to emboss 2 sheets of white card to begin with. I then cut them down to size to fit a 6 inch piece of white card. The spraying then began – using ‘Rusty Hinge’ & ‘Scorched Timber’ distress stain and ‘Gathered Twigs’ distress oxide sprays and plenty of water. These were dried between each spray to help layer up the colour. I then added some droplets of ‘Salvaged Patina’ distress oxide and distress spritz spray over the embossed surface. This really makes a lovely shiny rusty look to the background. Once dry I went around the edges of the card background using ‘Ground Espresso’ distress ink.

This was then layered onto black card and a white card blank.

Next up I die cut out the ‘Gentlemen’ using some black card. The numbers from the ‘Countdown’ set were then die cut from white card.

Finally, the card was layered up with 3D mounts and acrylic glue.

I’m so looking forward to getting the larger size embossing folders – perfect for the larger cards that I tend to make.
