Jake Skates
For the background, I sprayed a piece of white card with ‘Tumbled Glass’, ‘Weathered Wood’ and ‘Lost Shadow’ distress spray stain before going around the edge of the card with ‘Hickory Smoke’ distress ink. Some water droplets were then sprinkled over the card before the background was left to dry.
Up next, I placed the ‘Supernova’ stencil over the top of the background and smoothed distress opaque grit paste through it and let it dry. I wanted to add a little sparkle so sprayed ‘Tumbled Glass’ distress spritz spray over the raised stencilled image.
To add extra interest to the background I stamped the small star cluster around the edges of the card background with Versafine Clair ‘Morning Mist’ and ‘Bali Blue’ inks. On a separate piece of card I then stamped the sentiments and elements from the ‘Jake Skates’ stamp set using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before heat embossing with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. Each element was then die cut out and coloured in with Zig color brush pens. The sentiments were also cut out and mounted onto black card using acrylic glue.
Finally, I layered the background onto black card before some white acrylic paint was tapped over the card. This was then glued to a white card blank. All the elements were then added to the card using 3D glue before some gems were added for extra glitz.
I really enjoyed making this children’s card. It’s perfect to send to any young person who may be celebrating a birthday or is in need of some encouragement this school year.
