Gentlemen - Father's Day Card 2024

It’s Father’s Day here in the UK so it’s time to celebrate all those father figures and mentors we most admire. I do love a bit of grunge so I thoroughly enjoyed making a couple of cards for this special day using an array of Tim Holtz goodies. This is make number (1) of (2)!

I started by taking a piece of white card and blended ‘Tumbled Glass’, ‘Stormy Skies’, ‘Speckled Egg’, ‘Salvaged Patina’ and ‘Vintage Photo’ distress ink onto it. I then stamped some of the elements from the Stampers Anonymous ‘Mr Rabbit’ stamp set onto the background using Versafine ‘Morning Mist’ grey ink. Once dried, I placed the ‘Industrial’ Stampers Anonymous stencil onto the background and smoothed Distress opaque grit paste through it. Some distress oxide sprays in the same colours as the original distress ink were then sprayed over the top with some additional ‘Gathered Twigs’ and ‘Salvaged Patina’ distress spray stain.

Once everything was dry, the stripes stencil from the Stampers Anonymous mini stencil set was placed onto the other side of the card and Versamark blended through it. Some wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder was then heat embossed to give a dramatic effect.

On a separate piece of card I stamped the typewriter from the ’Curiosity Shop’ stamps set using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink. This was then fussy cut out and edged with ‘Vintage Photo’ distress ink. The Sizzix ‘Gentlemen’ die was then cut out alongside a couple of elements from the ‘Vault Rosettes’ die set.

Finally, the card was layered up onto black card and a white card blank. An idea-ology quote chip, clippings, some water droplet gems and wink of stella sparkle were added for further interest. I had a great time with this make and I hope you feel inspired to create too.
