Little Ladybirds at Christmas

Christmas can often be a difficult time for some, with memories of loved ones, or just generally feeling under the weather. For my last DT make of the year I’ve used traditional festive colours for a card of hope of better things to come as 2024 approaches. I’ve used the ‘Little Ladybirds’, ‘Look Forward with Hope’ and ‘Atomic Flower’ stencil all from Visible Image.

For the background I dipped a piece of white card into ‘Old Paper’ and ‘Mowed Lawn’ distress spray stains that had been sprayed with water. Once dried, I then topped it up with ‘Bundled Sage’ and ‘Rustic Wilderness’ distress ink also sprayed with water. The background was then edged with ‘Mowed Lawn’ distress ink.

Next, I placed the ‘Atomic Flower’ stencil over the top of the background and blended ‘Mowed Lawn’ distress ink through it. The ‘Little Ladybirds’ were then stamped onto the edges of the card using ‘Rustic Wilderness’ distress ink (2nd generation). The main images were then added using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink and heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. I then stamped another set of ladybirds onto a separate piece of white card and coloured these in with Zig color clean brushes before fussy cutting out and adding Glossy Accents.

The sentiment from the ‘Look Forward with Hope’ set was then stamped onto a separate piece of white card using the same Versafine Clair ink and heat embossed in the same way. This was then fussy cut out and a little ‘Mowed Lawn’ distress ink brushed around the edge before mounting onto a small piece of black card.

Finally, the background was put onto black card and a white card blank before some Wink of Stella glitter pen and some water droplet gems were added. A little card to hopefully brighten up someone’s day that may be going through a hard time this festive season.
