Festive Felines

 

Are you a cat lover? Do you know what they are secretly planning for Christmas? Watch out as these festive felines have been plotting for weeks… Poor Santa!! No wonder they are on his naughty list!

I had a lot of fun making this Christmas card for a very special person. I used a mash-up of a range of stamps from Visible Image including ‘That Lovin’ Feline’ stamp set and dies alongside the ‘Christmas Wishes’, ‘Santa Claus’ and ‘Snowman Jack’ stamp sets.

For the background I dipped a piece of white card with ‘Salty Ocean’ distress spray stain. I then stamped the small snowflakes from the ‘Snowman Jack’ stamp set onto the background using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow opaque bright white superfine embossing powder. The small snowballs were then stamped using the same distress ink. I then took the chimney from the ‘Santa Claus’ stamp set and inked it up with ‘Vintage Photo’ distress ink to create the roof scene.

On a separate piece of white card I then stamped the cats from the ‘That Lovin’ Feline’ stamp set using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before and die cutting them out and colouring in with Zig pens. The presents and Santa Claus were also stamped and coloured in the same way before being fussy cut out and Santa’s legs cut to stick down the chimney! I used the cuffs from Santa’s outfit for the top of the cats’ jumpers to add a festive feel. A new chimney topper was added to cover Santa’s legs.

Finally, the sentiment from the ‘That Lovin’ Feline’ and ‘Christmas Wishes’ sets was added before the card was edged in ‘Chipped Sapphire’ distress ink. The background was then glued to black card and a white card blank. All the elements were then added using 3D mounts, alongside some sparkle with a Wink of Stella glitter pen, some distress texture paste and some gems. A purr-fect card for Christmas 2023 I hope you agree.
