French Garden Tag

 

The weather has certainly warmed up here in the UK and the garden is now in full bloom. This inspired my latest tag make for one of the crafty groups I belong to. For their monthly challenge I chose to use the beautiful ‘French Garden’ stamp set from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous as the theme was ‘Roses in Bloom’.

For this make I started by taking a size 8 tag by Dina Wakley and smooshing it into ‘Salty Ocean’ and ‘Mowed Lawn’ distress ink that had been spritzed with water. To add some interest to the background the ledger stamp from the ‘French Marketplace’ stamp set was stamped onto the background using the same coloured distress inks.

Up next, the flower, leaves and another element from the ‘French Garden’ stamp set were stamped onto the background using Versafine and heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. The bloom and leaves were coloured in using the neat distress ink from the pad using a paintbrush. Some wink of stella glitter pen gives the flower a much needed sparkle.

Some additional texture was added to the background using Distress translucent crackle paste through the ‘Roses’ Tim Holtz stencil. Some Posca paint splatters and Distress spritz spray in ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Rustic Wilderness’ add a little shimmer.

To breathe some life into the tag I added a couple of dragonflies from the Classics Stampers Anonymous series of stamps. These were stamped and coloured in the same way as t’he French Garden’ stamps.

The tag was then mounted onto some black card before a few gems and crochet trim/rikrak and ideaology quote chip (edged in ‘Salty Ocean’ distress ink) were added for that final flourish.
