Decorative Art MDF Tray
To begin, I took the MDF tray and put it together carefully using Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue. I then painted the whole tray in two layers of white gesso. Once dry this was painted with Pebeo Studio Acrylics high viscosity titanium white paint.
Up next, I cut a piece of white card (26cm x12.7cm) to use as the focal point within the tray. ‘Tumbled Glass’, ‘Salvaged Patina’ and ‘Peacock Feathers’ distress ink was then blended over the card before the ‘Inky Daisy’ stencil was placed in opposite corners of the card. For the stencilling, I blended Distress opaque grit paste through the stencil onto the background. Some Wow metallic gold rich superfine embossing powder was then heat set in the centre of the daisy.
‘Stormy Sky’ distress ink was then brushed through the ‘Grunged Numbers’ stencil in random areas of the card before elements from the ‘Daisy Grunge’ stamp set was roughly stamped using Versafine Clair ‘Warm Breeze’ blue ink (1st and 2nd generation) as well as ‘Salvaged Patina’ distress oxide.
The ‘Inky Art’ stencil was then placed into the middle of the piece of card and ‘Chipped Sapphire’ distress ink blended through it before some white Posca pen highlights and splatters were added to the full background.
Finally, the card was glued into position in the tray using Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue. Some small golden sequins were then added for additional sparkle.
I really enjoyed making this piece of home décor and I’ll definitely be making another.
