Sketched Baubles

The summer is always the time I start making my Christmas cards. The new ‘Sketched Baubles’ stamp set from Visible Image is an essential go to for this year’s makes. I also love how you can use the baubles with lots of embossing! For the large bauble I also chose to use ‘Christmas Backgrounds’ and a star from the ‘Shining Star’ stamp set.

To get started, I sprayed a piece of white card with ‘Wilted Violet’, ‘Kitsch Flamingo’ and ‘Shaded Lilac’ distress spray stains. I then blended ‘Kitsch Flamingo’ distress ink around the edges of the card. Some water droplets were then dripped across the background to add additional detail.

Next up, I stamped the large ribbon from the ‘Sketched Baubles’ set at the top of the background using Versamark before heat embossing with Wow superfine metallic silver embossing powder. On a separate piece of white card I stamped the large bauble, and small star from the ‘Shining Star’ stamp set and embossed them in the same way. The ‘Christmas Backgrounds’ stamp set was then stamped this over the top of the bauble using ‘Wilted Violet’ distress ink. The bauble and star were then fussy cut out and covered in Versamark before some Wow ‘Disco Ball’ embossing glitter and ‘Sparkling Snow’ embossing powder were heat embossed to make them look very sparkly!

When looking at the card background I realised that it needed some additional interest so I stamped the smaller baubles onto the background using Hero Arts unicorn white pigment ink and heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. These were then coloured in using a wink of stella glitter pen.

Before putting the card together the sentiment was stamped onto a small piece of white card using Versafine ‘Morning Mist’ grey ink and heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. This was mounted onto a small piece of purple card.

Finally, the background was put onto purple card and a white card blank before the elements and sentiment were added using 3D mounts. Some gems and sequins were also added for extra bling! I do love non-traditional colours for Christmas cards alongside plenty of embossing! Another idea I’ll return to for all those cards this year.
