Have a Try-Mendous Day

 

I have always loved a spot of rugby especially the colourful kits they wear! That inspired my make using the fabulous new ‘Try-Mendous Day’ stamp set from Visible Image. I’ve teamed this set up with the equally amazing ‘Splashes’ stencil – these are the perfect match for those masculine cards this year.

For the background I sprayed a piece of white card with ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Seedless Preserves’ distress spray stains. I then went around the edge of the card with the same colours in distress ink. The inky background was then spritzed with water before drying with a heat gun. To add interest to the background I stamped some of the elements from the ‘Try-Mendous Day’ stamp set using ‘Seedless Preserves’, ‘Salty Ocean’ and ‘Peacock Feathers’ distress ink.

I then placed the ‘Splashes’ stencil over the top of the background and brushed ‘Picket Fence’ distress ink through it. This gives a misty feel to the background.

The main rugby player image, small dots and lines from the set were then stamped onto the background using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before being heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. A few splatters and outlining using Posca acrylic white paint were then added over the top.

The sentiments were then stamped onto a small piece of black card using Versamark before being heat embossed with Wow superfine opaque bright white embossing powder.

Finally, the background was mounted onto black card and a white card blank. The sentiments were added using 3D mounts. A few metallic gems were added for further interest. What a great way to wish that male friend or relative a very happy birthday this year.
