Sunshine Sunflower Birthday

I’m not really an overnight crafter but when you can’t sleep and know you have lots of amazing stamps just waiting to be inked up – what’s a girl to do? Here’s a recent night-time creation – a birthday card using the ‘Sunflower Grunge’ stamp set from Visible Image. I’ve teamed it up with the ‘Bee Happy’, ‘Birthday Wishes’ and ‘Shape it Up’ stamp sets and the ‘Honeycomb Hex’ stencil. Some butterflies from my crafty stash have also flown in using the ‘Butterfly Effect’ stamp and die set.

For the background I dipped a piece of white card into ‘Scattered Straw’ and ‘Wild Honey’ distress oxides that had been sprayed with water. Once dried, I blended ‘Wild Honey’ distress ink through the ‘Honeycomb Hex’ stencil. The circle from the ‘Shape it Up’ stamp set was then stamped using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow metallic gold rich superfine embossing powder. This was followed by the honeycomb from the ‘Bee Happy’ set which was stamped and heat embossed in the same way but using Wow opaque bright white superfine embossing powder.

Next up, the main sunflower from the ‘Sunflower Grunge’ set was stamped onto the card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink and heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. I then stamped another onto a separate piece of white card and coloured this in with ‘Salty Ocean’ distress ink and Zig color clean brushes before fussy cutting out and adding to the background. Some splatters from the same set and the sentiment from the ‘Birthday Wishes’ set were then stamped onto the background using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ ink.

Finally, the background was put onto black card and a white card blank before the butterflies were added alongside some sparkle using splatters of gold posca paint, Wink of Stella glitter pen and some gems. A delightful birthday card all set for that special occasion this summer.
